FRUSTRATED OR INTIMIDATED BY DIET AND EXERCISE?
You're not alone. As a doctor treating adult women of all ages, it is painful to see so many patients exhausted by the process. I am ready to help. Fortunately, we now have highly effective, safe medicaitons that can help you lose weight, known as "peptides".
WHAT ARE PEPTIDES?
Peptides are small chains of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. One such peptide, Semaglutide, is a medication originally created to treat diabetes. It has achieved much attention as a weight loss drug. Patients have lost on the average almost 17% of their body weight, with an average of almost 6 inches coming off of their waistline!
The medication is now sold through pharmacy chains as Wegovy, as a weight loss drug, and branded as Ozempic to treat diabetes. It is administered as a subcutaneous injection, with minimal discomfort. Semaglutide is then increased as tolerated, and as necessary, to achieve the weight loss.
Tirzepatide is another drug shown to be highly effective for weight loss. It is currently FDA approved for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, and is fast tracked for FDA approval for weight loss. Tirzepatide is marketed at mass pharmacies as Mounjaro.
Both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are available in generic form, combined with vitamin B6 (a natural anti nausea supplement) and produced by compounding pharmacies. Semaglutide is the included injection in Dr Frieden’s weight loss programs (which will include Tirzepatide when FDA approved).
HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
You will receive weekly injections of the medication you and Dr Frieden select. You can have the injections administered weekly at his office, or you can learn to administer them yourself at home (it’s very easy.) Dr. Frieden will see you monthly for counseling on weight loss, weight checks, occasional labwork.
WHO IS ABLE TO GET THESE MEDICINES?
Check your BMI (Body Mass Index) here. If you are an adult with BMI 30 or higher, you are a candidate for the medication. If your BMI is 27 or higher, but not 30, and you have a diabetic related condition such as high cholesterol, hypertension (high blood pressure), sleep apnea, gall bladder disease, PCOS, or heart disease, you are also able to get the medication.
COSTS?
The office does not accept insurance for the weight loss program. Call the office to discuss monthly costs of the program, and payment options- costs are remarkably lower than out of pocket/ self-pay rates at pharmacies. Any lab work, supplies, and the medications themselves are included, at no additional cost to you.
