When you and your partner have not been able to conceive, Dr. Frieden will help you determine the next steps. He knows how important this is to you both and believes in acting quickly to help you start your family.

The initial evaluation involves:

• Consultation
• Physical examination
• Labwork

Additional testing may include:

• Ultrasound evaluation of uterus and ovaries
• Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to confirm that the fallopian tubes are open and that the uterine cavity is normal
• Laparoscopy, to look for scar tissue or endometriosis in the abdomen
• Semen Analysis (30-40% of infertile couples are found to have a semen problem, "male factor")

Advanced fertility treatments, including ovulation injections, and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) are referred to specialists nearby.
