Dr. Frieden's 2 most important goals are to keep your baby healthy, and for you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your pregnancy. Access to Your DoctorYou will have questions during your pregnancy, and under Dr. Frieden's care, you will not have to struggle to reach him or his staff. When you call, his Medical Assistant will provide answers that come from him directly, or she may have you speak with him personally. Sometimes, you will be scheduled for an appointment for more in-depth discussions. Pre Pregnancy ConsultationDr. Frieden would love to meet with you and your significant other to discuss preparing for this exciting journey. He may want you to have blood tests done at this visit. |
As soon as you have a positive home pregnancy test (which should be around the time of your missed period or shortly after) you should call the office. During this visit, you will have a physical exam, blood testing, and an ultrasound to get a first look at your baby. Typically, the new pregnancy consultation will take place when you are around 7-8 weeks along, but may be done sooner, or after that time. Throughout this visit, there will be extensive opportunity to discuss pregnancy with Dr. Frieden - the visit will not end until you have had time to discuss all your concerns or questions.
These visits will start out about 4 weeks apart, and over the course of the pregnancy become more frequent (every 2 weeks then weekly). Sonograms will be done throughout the pregnancy, as often as you and Dr. Frieden together determine appropriate.
Dr. Frieden offers blood testing at 10 weeks or beyond that will include what your baby's gender is. Sonography at around 20 weeks will then confirm the baby's sex. You may choose to have Dr. Frieden tell you right away, or this can be enclosed in an envelope for a gender reveal party, intimate dinner with your spouse, or any other method you choose. One of his patients captured this exciting event on video, shared below.
Dr. Frieden will be happy to discuss this at any point in pregnancy, but the best time will be after 36 weeks, when we know how your pregnancy has progressed, if your cervix is dilating already, or if you have any complications. Dr. Frieden's philosophy is that this is YOUR pregnancy, YOUR child, and YOUR delivery - he is here to advise you as to what is safe and healthy for you both.

These pregnancies, while considered "high risk" will progress smoothly under Dr. Frieden's care. You will also be seen regularly by a Perinatologist (high-risk pregnancy specialist) to provide a team approach to keeping your pregnancy healthy. Dr. Frieden has twin boys and caring for these pregnancies is meaningful to him.
